Mountain ecosystems are hotspots for diverse living organisms exhibiting unique traits and distribution patterns. Their DNA contains crucial information about a region's geological and climatic history, offering insights into the potential for future adaptations among species and populations. However, these rich ecosystems face increasing anthropogenic pressures, with numerous species teetering on the brink of extinction.
My research primarily focuses on revealing the complex processes underpinning the evolution and maintenance of high mountain biodiversity. I aim to apply insights from experiments, observations and modelling to contribute to global and local efforts to safeguard these exceptional biodiversity hotspots.
